Yes. MKAZ allows the registered hirer to add an additional driver on the reservation, provided all of our verification requirements are met. However, the registered hirer remains fully responsible for the rental agreement, including all rental charges, traffic summons, toll charges, damages, penalties, and compliance with MKAZ’s Terms and Conditions throughout the rental period.

The designated driver must hold a valid driving licence that is legally recognised in Malaysia and complete MKAZ’s identity and driving licence verification process before the vehicle can be released. Yes. MKAZ allows rental extensions, subject to vehicle availability and operational scheduling. To request an extension, please contact our Customer Support team before your scheduled return time. Extension requests are processed based on the vehicle’s availability, as the vehicle may already be reserved by another customer.

Additional rental charges, insurance fees, and other applicable charges may apply for the extended rental period. Full payment for the extension may be required before the extension is approved.

Please note that continuing to use the vehicle beyond the agreed return date and time without prior approval from MKAZ may constitute an unauthorised extension and may result in additional charges in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

Rental extension charges are calculated based on the prevailing rental rates at the time the extension is requested and approved, and not on the rate of the original reservation or rental agreement.

Extension requests are subject to vehicle availability and operational scheduling. If the requested extension is approved, the additional rental period will be charged according to MKAZ’s current published rates.  We recommend contacting our Customer Support team as early as possible if you wish to extend your rental to ensure vehicle availability and to receive the latest applicable rental rate before confirming the extension.

Late return charges may vary depending on the vehicle category and rental package. A maximum grace period of up to five (5) hours may be granted, subject to the applicable late return charges. If the vehicle is returned more than five (5) hours after the scheduled return time, MKAZ reserves the right to charge one (1) additional rental day at the prevailing rental rate.

Yes. Most MKAZ rentals include Unlimited Mileage, allowing you to travel without worrying about distance limits during your rental period.

However, Limited Mileage may apply to selected vehicles, promotional rates, long-term rentals, corporate contracts, or during certain peak seasons and high-demand periods.

Where a Limited Mileage policy applies, the mileage allowance and any excess mileage charges will be clearly stated during the booking process or in your Rental Agreement before your reservation is confirmed.

If no mileage restriction is stated in your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement, your rental will be treated as Unlimited Mileage.

MKAZ operates a Same-to-Same Fuel Policy.

You are required to return the vehicle with approximately the same fuel level as when it was collected. The fuel level at the time of collection will be recorded during the vehicle handover.

If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than the recorded level, MKAZ reserves the right to refuel the vehicle on your behalf.

  • Petrol vehicles: You will be charged for the standard fuel penalty fee required to restore the original fuel level.
  • Diesel vehicles: Due to the subsidised diesel policy in Malaysia, diesel will be charged at the prevailing non-subsidised market price, together with a RM20.00 refuelling service charge for each refuelling transaction.

If the vehicle is returned with more fuel than when it was collected, no refund or credit will be provided for the excess fuel remaining in the vehicle.

To avoid additional charges, we recommend refuelling the vehicle at a petrol station near the return location before returning your rental.

No. Pets are not permitted in any MKAZ rental vehicle.

This policy is in place to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and comfort for all customers, as well as to minimise the risk of damage to the vehicle’s interior.

If a vehicle is found to have been used to transport pets without prior written approval from MKAZ, the hirer may be liable for cleaning, deodorisation, repair, and/or administrative charges to restore the vehicle to its original condition.

Failure to comply with this policy may constitute a breach of the Rental Agreement. If you have a special request or require further clarification, please contact our Customer Support team before your rental begins.

The hirer is solely responsible for all traffic summons, toll charges, parking fees, congestion charges, towing fees, and any other road-related charges incurred during the rental period, regardless of when they are issued or received.

If MKAZ receives any outstanding charges after the vehicle has been returned, MKAZ reserves the right to:

  • Recover the outstanding amount from the hirer;

These administrative fees are separate from the original fine or penalty imposed by the relevant authority.

It is the hirer’s responsibility to comply with all applicable traffic laws and regulations throughout the rental period. Failure to settle any outstanding charges may result in additional costs and may affect future rental eligibility with MKAZ.

If you accidentally refuel the vehicle with the wrong type of fuel, do not start or continue driving the vehicle. Doing so may cause severe engine damage and significantly increase repair costs.

Please contact MKAZ’s Customer Support immediately for further instructions. Where safe to do so, leave the vehicle stationary and await assistance.

The hirer will be responsible for all costs arising from the misfuelling incident, including but not limited to:

  • Fuel draining and system flushing;

  • Recovery or towing charges;

  • Repairs or replacement of damaged engine components;

  • Vehicle downtime or loss of use;

  • Administrative charges; and

  • Any other costs incurred as a result of the incorrect refuelling.

These charges are not covered under MKAZ’s optional Protection & Coverage products, including Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), and remain the hirer’s responsibility.

To avoid misfuelling, always verify the required fuel type indicated on the vehicle’s fuel cap, key tag, or dashboard before refuelling.

The use of the vehicle on off-road terrain, unsealed roads, beaches, plantations, construction sites, logging roads, river crossings, or any area not intended for normal public road use is strictly prohibited unless prior written approval has been obtained from MKAZ.

Any loss or damage resulting from unauthorised off-road use, including damage to the underbody, suspension, tyres, wheels, engine, or other vehicle components, shall be the sole responsibility of the hirer and may not be covered under any optional Protection & Coverage purchased.

Failure to comply with this policy may constitute a breach of the Rental Agreement and may result in additional charges, recovery costs, and the termination of the rental.

No. MKAZ rental vehicles are not permitted to be driven outside Malaysia.

The hirer shall be fully responsible for any losses, damages, recovery costs, penalties, or other liabilities arising from the unauthorised use of the vehicle outside Malaysia.

An International Driving Permit (IDP) is an internationally recognised document that translates your valid domestic driving licence into multiple languages. It is not a standalone driving licence and must always be presented together with your original valid driving licence.

For car rental in Malaysia, drivers holding a valid driving licence issued by an ASEAN member country are generally not required to present an IDP when driving in Malaysia.

Drivers from non-ASEAN countries are required to present a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) together with their original driving licence before collecting the rental vehicle. Failure to present a valid and legally recognised driving licence may result in the rental being declined and may expose the driver to penalties under Malaysian law if found driving without a valid licence.

To rent a vehicle with MKAZ, the primary driver must be at least 21 years of age and hold a valid driving licence recognised in Malaysia. For certain vehicle categories, premium vehicles, MPVs, SUVs, 4WDs, or luxury vehicles, a minimum age of 25 years old is required.

MKAZ reserves the right to request additional documentation or decline a rental if the driver does not meet our eligibility requirements or fails the verification process. If you are unsure whether you meet the minimum age or driver eligibility requirements for your chosen vehicle, please contact our Customer Support team before making your reservation.

Foreign visitors drive in Malaysia using either a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) and a foreign driving licence issued in English. If the foreign driving licence is not in English, a certified translation is required.

Visitors from ASEAN countries such as Singapore, Thailand, or Indonesia may drive in Malaysia using their national driving licence only for short-term stays, without the need for an IDP.

Visitors from non-ASEAN countries are required to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP) before driving in Malaysia to ensure compliance with local laws and to avoid potential legal or insurance issues.

Understanding the International Driving Permit (IDP)

An International Driving Permit (IDP) is an official document that allows foreign drivers to legally operate a vehicle in Malaysia and many other countries.

Key points:

  • Valid for one year from the date of issue
  • Must be obtained in your home country before travel
  • Issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention or 1968 Vienna Convention
  • Cannot be renewed within Malaysia

No. Drivers holding a Probationary Driving Licence (P Licence) are not eligible to rent a vehicle with MKAZ.

To rent a vehicle, the primary driver must hold a valid Driving Licence (CDL) or a driving licence that is legally recognised in Malaysia.

No. MKAZ does not accept Digital Driving Licences for vehicle collection or verification.

All renters and authorised drivers are required to present their original physical driving licence at the time of vehicle collection. This requirement forms part of our identity verification process and helps ensure compliance with our operational procedures and insurance requirements.

For international renters, the original physical driving licence must also be accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) where required under Malaysian regulations.

Failure to present the required original driving documents at the time of vehicle collection may result in the rental being declined, and cancellation or no-show charges may apply in accordance with the applicable booking terms and conditions.

If you are unsure whether your driving documents meet our requirements, please contact our Customer Support team before making your reservation.

No. MKAZ does not accept an International Driving Licence (IDL) as a substitute for an International Driving Permit (IDP).

MKAZ may provide a replacement vehicle only if the vehicle experiences a mechanical breakdown that is not caused by misuse, negligence, or an accident.

Replacement vehicles are not provided if:

  • The rental vehicle is involved in an accident, regardless of who is at fault.
  • The vehicle is damaged due to misuse, negligence, or violation of the Rental Agreement.
  • The issue arises from customer-caused damage.

If a replacement vehicle is approved due to a mechanical fault, it is subject to vehicle availability and may not be the same make, model, or category as the original vehicle.

If you require another vehicle following an accident, you may make a new rental booking, subject to availability and the applicable rental charges.

Need assistance?
If your vehicle experiences a mechanical issue or you require immediate support, please contact MKAZ’s 24/7 customer support team for further assistance.

Zone Boundaries are designated geographical areas established by MKAZ Sabah  to define the permitted operating regions for certain rental vehicles.

Travel beyond these designated zones may involve higher operational risks, limited roadside assistance, increased recovery costs, or additional insurance exposure. As a result, certain destinations may require prior approval or be subject to an additional Zone Boundary Fee.

If you intend to travel outside the standard operating area, you must inform MKAZ before your rental begins. Failure to declare travel into a restricted or chargeable zone may result in additional charges and may affect your eligibility for certain Protection & Coverage products.

Please contact our Customer Support team before your journey if you are unsure whether your destination falls within a Zone Boundary.

Sabah covers a large geographical area, and some destinations are located significantly farther from MKAZ’s operational support network.

To ensure that customers continue to receive reliable roadside assistance, vehicle recovery services, and operational support, certain destinations outside MKAZ’s standard operating zone are classified as Zone Boundary Areas and are subject to a Zone Boundary Fee.

The fee helps offset the additional costs associated with:

  • Extended roadside assistance coverage.
  • Vehicle recovery and towing over long distances.
  • Logistics and operational support in remote locations.
  • Increased vehicle wear and operational risks.

The applicable Zone Boundary Fee, if any, will be communicated to you before your rental is confirmed. If you are unsure whether your destination falls within a Zone Boundary Area, please contact our Customer Support team before travelling.

Yes. Additional charges may apply if you intend to travel beyond MKAZ’s standard operating zone.

The Zone Boundary Fee is charged to cover the additional operational costs associated with providing roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, logistics support, and servicing customers in remote or extended-distance locations.

The applicable fee depends on your travel destination and will be communicated to you before your reservation is confirmed or prior to approving your travel request.

To avoid any inconvenience, please inform MKAZ of your intended travel destination before your rental begins so we can advise whether a Zone Boundary Fee applies.

Travel outside the approved operating zone is not permitted unless you have obtained prior notification and written approval from MKAZ before commencing your journey.

Where approval is granted, an additional Zone Boundary Fee may apply depending on the destination, distance travelled, and operational support requirements. Please refer to Zone Boundaries Fee under Step 3 on booking website.

Unauthorised travel outside the approved zone may constitute a breach of the Rental Agreement and may result in additional charges, recovery costs, and limitations to roadside assistance or applicable Protection & Coverage.

If you are planning to travel outside the standard operating area, please contact MKAZ Customer Support before your rental begins to confirm whether your destination is permitted and whether any additional charges apply.

Travelling outside the approved operating zone without prior notification and approval from MKAZ constitutes a breach of the Rental Agreement.

If unauthorised out-of-zone travel is identified, MKAZ reserves the right to:

  • Impose the applicable Zone Boundary Fee and any additional operational or recovery charges.
  • Decline or limit roadside assistance services in the unauthorised area.
  • Conduct further assessment of the rental and any associated liabilities.
  • Declare any optional Protection & Coverage purchased (including CDW, ACR, WPW, and other protection products) null and void where the incident occurs outside the approved operating zone or in breach of the Rental Agreement.

To avoid additional charges and ensure your Protection & Coverage remains valid, please inform MKAZ of your intended travel destination and obtain approval before travelling outside the approved operating zone.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is an optional protection that reduces the renter’s financial liability if the rental vehicle is damaged due to a collision or accidental impact during the rental period.

By purchasing CDW, your liability for repair costs may be reduced to the applicable Damage Excess stated in your Rental Agreement, provided you have complied with all terms and conditions of the rental.

Please note that CDW is not an insurance policy and does not eliminate your responsibility for all types of damage or loss.

CDW does not cover, including but not limited to:

  • Damage resulting from negligence, reckless or illegal driving.

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • Damage caused by an unauthorised or unlisted driver.

  • Damage resulting from a breach of the Rental Agreement or Terms and Conditions.

  • Loss or damage to personal belongings.

  • Tyres, wheels, rims, windscreen, windows, undercarriage, roof, interior damage, keys, or accessories, unless specifically covered by an additional protection package.

  • Theft or total loss where the renter has failed to exercise reasonable care or comply with the rental terms.

All MKAZ vehicles are covered under a standard motor vehicle insurance policy. However, in the event of damage to the rental vehicle, the hirer remains liable for the applicable Damage Excess stated in the Rental Agreement.

The standard Damage Excess (without CDW) is as follows:

Vehicle GroupDamage  Excess
Group ARM3,500
Group BRM4,000
Group CRM4,500
Group DRM6,500
Group ERM8,000
Group FRM9,500
Group GRM10,500
Group HRM11,500
Group IRM12,500

By purchasing Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), the hirer’s Damage Excess may be reduced to:

Vehicle GroupDamage Excess with CDW
Group ARM2,000
Group BRM2,500
Group CRM3,000
Group DRM4,000
Group ERM5,000
Group FRM6,000
Group GRM7,000
Group HRM8,000
Group IRM9,000

Please note that CDW does not eliminate the Damage Excess entirely. The hirer remains responsible for the applicable reduced excess amount in the event of a claim.

CDW is only applicable where:

  • The accident is reported to MKAZ immediately.
  • A police report is lodged within the time required by Malaysian law.
  • The hirer complies with the Rental Agreement and Terms and Conditions.
  • The claim is accepted by MKAZ’s insurer in accordance with the insurance policy.

CDW does not cover losses or damage resulting from negligence, reckless or unlawful driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, unauthorised drivers, breaches of the Rental Agreement, or any other exclusions specified in the insurance policy and Terms and Conditions.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) can be purchased during the online booking process when making your reservation through the MKAZ website.

If you did not select CDW during booking, you may request to add it before the vehicle is collected, subject to availability and approval by MKAZ.

The applicable CDW fee will be displayed during the booking process and must be paid before the commencement of the rental. Once the rental has started or the vehicle has been handed over, CDW cannot be added, amended, or purchased retrospectively.

Accident Car Replacement (ACR) is an optional protection add-on that provides the hirer with a replacement vehicle if the rental vehicle is involved in an accident with a third party and becomes unroadworthy during the rental period.

If ACR has been purchased and all eligibility requirements are met, MKAZ will arrange a replacement vehicle of a similar or equivalent category, subject to operational availability.

Please note the following conditions:

  • ACR is only applicable for accidents involving a third party.
  • Single-vehicle accidents (where no third party is involved), including collisions with fixed objects or damage caused solely by the hirer, are not eligible for Accident Car Replacement.
  • The accident must be reported to MKAZ immediately.
  • A police report must be lodged within the time required by Malaysian law.
  • The hirer must comply with the Rental Agreement and Terms and Conditions.
  • Replacement vehicles are subject to operational availability.

ACR must be purchased before the commencement of the rental and cannot be added after the vehicle has been collected. ACR is not included as standard and must be purchased before the commencement of the rental. It cannot be added after the vehicle has been collected.

Important: If ACR is not purchased, MKAZ is not obligated to provide a replacement vehicle following an accident, regardless of who was at fault. Any replacement vehicle provided without ACR will be entirely at MKAZ’s discretion and subject to availability.

Accident Car Replacement (ACR) provides a replacement vehicle if the rental vehicle becomes unroadworthy as a result of an accident involving a third party, subject to the terms and conditions below.

No. Any optional protection products purchased for the original rental vehicle, including Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Accident Car Replacement (ACR), or other protection packages, will not be transferred to a replacement vehicle.

If a replacement vehicle is provided, it will be treated as a separate vehicle for protection purposes. Should you wish to purchase optional protection for the replacement vehicle, it must be purchased separately and will be subject to the applicable terms, availability, and charges at the time the replacement vehicle is issued.

Windscreen Protection Waiver (WPW) is an optional protection add-on that reduces or waives the hirer’s financial liability for accidental damage to the vehicle’s windscreen, subject to the terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement. WPW is designed to provide additional protection against accidental windscreen damage, such as stone chips or cracks that occur during normal driving.

WPW covers:

  • Accidental damage to the vehicle’s front windscreen.

  • Repair or replacement of the windscreen, subject to the terms of the Rental Agreement.

WPW does not cover:

  • Damage resulting from negligence, reckless or unlawful use.

  • Intentional damage or vandalism by the hirer.

  • Damage caused by a breach of the Rental Agreement.

  • Consequential losses, including transportation costs or loss of use.

WPW must be purchased before the commencement of the rental and cannot be added after the vehicle has been collected. In the event of windscreen damage, the hirer must notify MKAZ as soon as reasonably practicable. Failure to report the damage or comply with the Rental Agreement may result in WPW becoming invalid.

If Windscreen Protection Waiver (WPW) has not been purchased, the hirer will be responsible for the actual cost of repairing or replacing the damaged windscreen, together with any applicable administrative charges, in accordance with the Rental Agreement.

If Windscreen Protection Waiver (WPW) has been purchased, eligible windscreen damage will be covered in accordance with the terms and conditions of the protection, and the hirer’s liability may be waived.

If Windscreen Protection Waiver (WPW) has been purchased and the damage is covered under the applicable terms and conditions, these charges may be reduced or waived. WPW is subject to the exclusions set out in the Rental Agreement and does not apply where the damage results from negligence, misuse, or any breach of the Terms and Conditions.

Flood and Storm Coverage is an optional protection add-on that reduces the hirer’s financial liability for loss or damage to the rental vehicle caused directly by floods, storms, or other specified natural disasters, subject to the terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement.

Without Flood and Storm Coverage, the hirer may be held financially responsible for losses arising from flood or storm damage, even if the incident was beyond the hirer’s control.

Please note that Flood and Storm Coverage is subject to the applicable terms, exclusions, and conditions, and must be purchased before the commencement of the rental.

If Flood and Storm Coverage has not been purchased, the hirer may be held liable for all loss or damage resulting from flood, storm, or other natural disasters during the rental period, regardless of fault.

Depending on the extent of the damage, the hirer may be responsible for:

  • The cost of repairing the vehicle.
  • If the vehicle is declared a total loss, the market value of the vehicle at the time of the incident, less any applicable salvage value.
  • Towing, recovery, storage, or impound charges.
  • Administrative and processing fees.
  • Loss of use charges for the period the vehicle is unavailable for rental.
  • Any other reasonable costs incurred by MKAZ as a direct result of the incident.

If Flood and Storm Coverage has been purchased and the claim is accepted in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions, the hirer’s liability may be reduced or waived, subject to the policy limits and exclusions.

Important: Flood and Storm Coverage does not apply where the damage results from negligence or reckless conduct, including but not limited to intentionally driving through flooded roads, ignoring official road closures or weather warnings, or any other act that materially increases the risk of loss. MKAZ reserves the right to reject claims where the hirer has failed to exercise reasonable care.

No. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) does not cover loss or damage caused by natural events, including but not limited to floods and storms,

Protection against such events is available only if the hirer has purchased Flood and Storm Coverage before the commencement of the rental.

If Flood and Storm Coverage has not been purchased, the hirer may be held liable for all loss or damage resulting from natural events in accordance with the Rental Agreement and Terms and Conditions. For full details regarding the scope of protection, exclusions, and the hirer’s liability, please refer to the relevant protection package or contact our Customer Support team before making your reservation.

If you do not purchase Flood and Storm Coverage, you will remain liable for any loss or damage to the rental vehicle arising from floods or  storms during the rental period, regardless of fault.

The hirer’s maximum liability is subject to the applicable Natural Perils Excess for the vehicle group rented, as follows:

Vehicle GroupNatural Perils Excess
Group ARM4,500
Group BRM5,000
Group CRM6,500
Group DRM7,500
Group ERM9,000

A SmartTAG device is an electronic toll payment device that allows motorists to pass through designated toll lanes in Malaysia without stopping to make cash payments. The device works together with a valid Touch ‘n Go Card, enabling faster and more convenient travel on participating expressways.

Please note that all toll highways in Malaysia operate on a cashless payment system, and cash payments are generally not accepted.

MKAZ does not provide a SmartTAG device or Touch ‘n Go Card as part of the standard vehicle rental.

Customers who require a SmartTAG device may rent one from MKAZ during the booking process. To add a SmartTAG rental, select “Equipment & Services” under Step 4 of the online booking process and choose the SmartTAG Device option.

Please note:

  • The SmartTAG rental fee is separate from the vehicle rental charges.
  • The SmartTAG device does not include toll credit. Hirers are responsible for ensuring that a valid Touch ‘n Go Card with sufficient balance is available for use throughout the rental period.
  • The SmartTAG device remains the property of MKAZ and must be returned together with the rental vehicle. Charges may apply if the device is lost, damaged, or not returned.

The hirer is responsible for taking reasonable care of all accessories supplied with the rental vehicle, including the SmartTAG device and the Enhanced Touch ‘n Go Card.

If the SmartTAG device is lost, stolen, misplaced, damaged, broken, or not returned upon completion of the rental, a replacement charge of RM200.00 will apply.

If the Enhanced Touch ‘n Go Card attached to the SmartTAG device is lost, stolen, misplaced, damaged, broken, or not returned, the hirer will be charged:

  • RM30.00 for the replacement card; and
  • The value of the opening balance preloaded onto the card at the time it was issued.

These charges are separate from any outstanding toll charges incurred during the rental period.

To avoid replacement charges, hirers are advised to keep the SmartTAG device and Enhanced Touch ‘n Go Card securely stored in the vehicle at all times and ensure that both items are returned together with the rental vehicle at the end of the rental period.

The Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC Card is a reloadable contactless card widely used for toll payments, parking, and selected public transportation services throughout Malaysia.

Unlike the standard Touch ‘n Go card, the Enhanced NFC Card allows you to check your balance and reload the card instantly using the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app on an NFC-enabled smartphone, eliminating the need to visit a physical reload kiosk.

The card can be used at most highway toll plazas, parking facilities, and participating merchants that accept Touch ‘n Go payments.

If you rent a SmartTAG device from MKAZ, the Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC Card will be inserted into the SmartTAG device, allowing you to pass through SmartTAG lanes for faster and more convenient toll payments. However upon return, you need to return back the SmartTAG device together with the Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC Card.

Customers who do not have their own Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC Card may purchase one from MKAZ, subject to availability. Please contact our Customer Support team for pricing and availability.

Yes. MKAZ offers Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC Cards for purchase, subject to availability.

Customers may purchase an Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC Card during the online booking process under Step 4 – Equipment & Services, or by contacting our Customer Support team prior to collecting the rental vehicle.

The Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC Card allows users to make cashless toll and parking payments throughout Malaysia and can be conveniently reloaded using the Touch ‘n Go eWallet mobile application on an NFC-enabled smartphone.

Please note:

  • The Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC Card is sold separately from the vehicle rental.
  • The purchase price and any preloaded balance (if applicable) will be displayed during the booking process.
  • Availability is subject to stock at the time of booking or vehicle collection.

If you require an Enhanced Touch ‘n Go NFC Card for your journey, we recommend adding it to your reservation in advance to ensure availability.

No. Any remaining balance stored on the Touch ‘n Go Card provided with a rented SmartTAG device is non-refundable.

To avoid leaving unused credit on the card, we recommend reloading only the amount you expect to use during your rental period.

MKAZ is unable to refund or transfer any unused balance remaining on the Touch ‘n Go Card after the vehicle and SmartTAG device have been returned. The Touch ‘n Go Card remains the property of MKAZ and is retained for use by future customers.

Yes. MKAZ offers baby and child safety car seats as an optional add-on for your rental.

You can add a car seat when making your reservation by selecting Step 4 – Equipment & Services during the online booking process. The applicable rental fee will be automatically included in your booking invoice.

Please note that car seats are subject to availability and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend reserving your car seat in advance to avoid disappointment, especially during peak travel periods.

Yes. You are welcome to use your own child safety car seat during your rental.

However, the child seat must be installed in a manner that does not cause any damage, marks, or permanent indentation to the vehicle’s seats, upholstery, or interior components.

The hirer is fully responsible for the proper installation and use of their own child safety car seat. Any damage caused to the rental vehicle as a result of the installation or use of the child seat may be subject to repair charges in accordance with the Rental Agreement.

MKAZ accepts the following payment methods:

  • 💳 Visa
  • 💳 Mastercard

Please note:

  • American Express (AMEX) is not accepted.
  • UnionPay cards are not accepted.
  • Payment methods may vary depending on your booking channel and reservation type.
  • A valid Visa or Mastercard may be required for security deposit pre-authorisation, where applicable.

MKAZ offers two payment options at the time of booking:

  • Pay 25% upfront to confirm your reservation; or
  • Pay the full reservation amount at the time of booking.

If you choose the 25% payment option, the remaining balance will be automatically charged to your selected payment method prior to vehicle collection. Please ensure that sufficient funds are available to allow the payment to be processed successfully.

The rental vehicle will only be released once full payment has been received. MKAZ reserves the right to withhold the vehicle until all outstanding balances have been settled.

Yes. A Security Deposit (Pre-Authorisation) is required for reservations made through selected partner platforms, including but not limited to Klook, Trip.com, DiscoverCars, and other participating online travel platform, in accordance with the respective platform’s rental requirements.

A pre-authorisation (pre-auth) is a temporary hold placed on your credit or debit card. The amount is not charged or deducted from your account; it is simply reserved by your card issuer to cover potential charges that may arise during the rental period, such as:

  • Vehicle damage
  • Traffic summons or toll charges
  • Missing accessories or equipment
  • Breach of the Rental Agreement
  • Other outstanding charges, where applicable

Once the rental has ended and no additional charges are payable, the pre-authorisation will be released within 7 to 21 working days.  The release period is determined by your card issuer and may take several business days to appear on your account.

MKAZ also reserves the right to request an additional security deposit for higher-risk bookings, premium vehicles, long-term rentals, or where deemed necessary at its sole discretion. All required security deposits must be successfully authorised before the vehicle can be released.

After the vehicle is returned and the rental has been completed, the Security Deposit (Pre-Authorisation) will be handled as follows:

  • Standard rentals (no damage or outstanding charges): The pre-authorisation hold will typically expire and be released automatically by your card issuer within 7–21 working days, depending on your bank’s processing time. No action is required from MKAZ.
  • Rentals requiring further assessment: If damage is reported, additional inspection is required, or there are outstanding charges (such as traffic summons, tolls, missing equipment, or other liabilities), the pre-authorisation may remain pending for up to 60 business days, or until the matter has been resolved in accordance with the Rental Agreement.

Please note that the release timeframe is determined solely by your card issuer or bank, and may vary between financial institutions. MKAZ is unable to expedite or influence the release of the pre-authorisation hold.

A Security Deposit (Pre-Authorisation) is required to safeguard against any outstanding liabilities that may arise during or after the rental period.

The security deposit may be used to cover, where applicable:

  • Vehicle damage not covered under the Rental Agreement.
  • Traffic summons, toll charges, or parking fees incurred during the rental.
  • Missing accessories or equipment supplied with the vehicle.
  • Excess mileage, fuel shortages, late return charges, or other contractual fees.
  • Any breach of the Rental Agreement resulting in additional charges.

For most rentals, no deductions will be made, and the pre-authorisation will automatically expire after the rental has been successfully completed and no outstanding charges are identified.

The security deposit is a standard industry practice and helps ensure a smooth rental experience for both the hirer and MKAZ.

If you do not see a refund reflected on your bank statement, it may be due to the way your security deposit was processed.

For most reservations, the security deposit is processed as a pre-authorisation (pre-auth) rather than a direct charge. A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold placed on your credit or debit card to secure the deposit amount. Since no funds are actually deducted from your account, there will be no refund transaction shown on your bank statement. Instead, the hold will automatically expire and the reserved amount will become available again, subject to your card issuer’s processing time.

If your security deposit was processed as a direct charge, the refund will be processed in accordance with MKAZ’s refund procedures. The time taken for the refunded amount to appear in your account depends on your bank or card issuer and may vary depending on their processing timeline, including weekends and public holidays.

If you have any questions regarding your security deposit, please contact our Customer Support team and we will be happy to assist you.

Certain charges may only be identified after the vehicle is returned or after information is received from the relevant authorities. These may include traffic summons, toll charges, damages, cleaning fees, fuel charges, late return fees, or other charges permitted under the Rental Agreement.

Yes. By accepting the Rental Agreement, you authorise MKAZ to automatically charge your registered payment card for any legitimate outstanding amounts arising from your rental, including traffic summons, parking fines, toll charges, damage-related costs, late return fees, fuel shortages, cleaning charges, and applicable administrative fees. Where available, supporting documents or evidence will be provided upon request.

This FAQ is particularly valuable because it clearly sets customer expectations and can help reduce payment disputes and chargebacks.

Where reasonably practicable, MKAZ will notify you before processing additional charges. However, in certain circumstances, such as time-sensitive summons, toll recoveries, or where authorisation has already been granted under the Rental Agreement, MKAZ reserves the right to process the charges without prior notice.

Refund eligibility depends on the booking channel through which your reservation was made.

  • Direct bookings with MKAZ: Refunds are subject to MKAZ’s Cancellation and Refund Policy, as stated at the time of booking. Any applicable cancellation fees, administrative charges, or non-refundable items will be deducted before the refund is processed.
  • Bookings made through partner platforms (such as Klook, Trip.com, DiscoverCars, EconomyBookings, QEEQ, Zuzuche, or other online travel agencies): Refunds are governed by the respective platform’s cancellation and refund policy. Customers must submit their cancellation or refund request directly through the platform where the reservation was made.

Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method. The time taken for the refunded amount to appear in your account depends on your bank or card issuer and may vary based on their processing timeline.

If you are unsure which refund policy applies to your reservation, please contact our Customer Support team before cancelling your booking.
