Reservation

You can make a booking for MKAZ through our website. To book, simply visit the “booking” section and complete all the required information.

To rent a car with MKAZ, you must have:

  • Your Malaysian Identity Card (IC)
  • Your competent Malaysian driver’s license
  • Utility bill (if necessary)

Only the individual registered with MKAZ using their IC and driving license is permitted to drive and use MKAZ vehicles. Allowing any unauthorized third party to drive or use the car will result in a RM300 charge. Please be mindful of this policy, as penalty charges are non-refundable.

Upon placing a reservation, you will receive a confirmation email. Please ensure payment is made within the specified timeframe; otherwise, your temporary reservation will be canceled. Your reservation is considered confirmed only upon receipt of the confirmation email and payment voucher.

Driving License Requirement

All renters must be at least 21 years old with a valid Competent Driving License (CDL). Probationary licenses are not accepted.

For Class F vehicles, the minimum age requirement is 25 years and above.

Regulation

In accordance with Section 28 of APJ 1987, as indicated on the JPJ website, only holders of driving licenses from ASEAN countries can drive in Malaysia, provided their domestic license is valid and accompanied by an English or Malay translation (if the license is in a language other than English or Malay), authenticated by the embassy of the country of origin in Malaysia or the issuing authority.

ASEAN member countries include Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei, Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Foreign nationals from non-ASEAN countries must present a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) along with their domestic driving license to drive in Malaysia.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Original and physical International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your domestic driving license
  • Letter from the embassy to verify your driver’s license and International Driving Permit. 

We currently only accept Competent Driving Licenses (CDL) for rental purposes, prioritizing your safety as our main concern. Our insurance policies specifically cover CDL holders. You can verify your license status on the JPJ’s website.

Early Return Policy

Please be aware that we do not provide refunds for early vehicle returns.

Extension of Rental

If you wish to extend your rental, kindly get in touch with us as early as possible, ideally before the end date and time specified in your rental agreement. Additional days will be charged at “pay at location” rates, depending on the duration of the extension.

Your full authorization will be adjusted to cover any expected additional costs, and you must use the same payment card used for the original authorization.

You may be required to visit the rental location to sign a new agreement and/or provide an additional payment card for the full authorization.

Out-of-Hours Fee

When booking online, entering the specific pick-up time will display available options and any applicable extra fees.

An out-of-hours fee may be charged if you pick up or return your rental car outside of regular business hours (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM).

For returns outside these hours, late charges and out-of-hours fees will apply. Here are the fees for different times:

You may incur an additional fee if you pick up or return your car outside of our designated timeline.

Late Fee or Charges

Late return charges may vary depending on which car you rented. Maximum of 5 hours will only be accepted for late return. Below are the prices of late charge.

Fuel Charges

No, we do not cover fuel expenses during your rental period. We adhere to a fuel-to-fuel policy, meaning renters are responsible for returning the car with the same amount of fuel it had when picked up.

No, the fuel level may vary depending on availability at the time of pickup.

Yes, you are responsible for covering the cost of any fuel that is not refilled before returning the vehicle.

Delivery and Collection Policy

You can arrange for delivery, and the charge will depend on your location. Additionally, we offer pick-up services at your location upon request.

Please visit the ‘Booking’ section on our website. Under Step 1 – Dates, you can view the available pickup locations. There are several options to choose from. Delivery charges are determined by factors such as distance, accessibility of the destination, and time of day.

No Show Policy

A “no show” happens under the following circumstances:

  • You did not notify us of your cancellation less than 24 hours before your scheduled pick-up time.
  • You did not send a designated driver to collect the car.
  • You did not arrive at the agreed-upon time and date for picking up your car.

In case of a no-show, no refunds will be issued and all payments will be forfeited.

Fine, Penalty and Summons

You are responsible for paying any compensation for company losses, including traffic fines and summons issued by PDRM, JPJ or the authority, without limitation to any offenses.

Please check your email for details regarding your summons information and payment. Penalties are subject to MKAZ’s policy on summons and fines.

An administration fee will apply if we pay the summons, in accordance with MKAZ’s penalty policy.

Protection and Coverage 

Collision damage Waiver(CDW)

Collision Damage Waiver is the term used in the car hire industry to indicate whether the rental car is covered for the cost of repairs in the event of damage (usually excess will apply).

All vehicles are fully insured with standard motor vehicle policy. However, the hirer is always liable for an amount equivalent to the excess clause not exceeding MYR3,500 (Group A), MYR4,000 (Group B), MYR4,500 (Group C), MYR6,500 (Group D), MYR8,000 (Group E), MYR9,500 (Group F), MYR10,500 (Group G), MYR11,500 (Group H), and MYR12,500 (Group I). This covers the cost of repairs or replacement for any damage to MKAZ’s vehicle.

By purchasing Collision Damage Waiver, hirers can reduce the excess liability to minimal. For example, should Hirer intentionally or unintentionally causes damage to MKAZ vehicle, hirer is liable to pay the excess which can be reduced as per detailed below:-

MYR 2,000 (Group A), MYR 2,500 (Group B), MYR 3,000 (Group C), MYR 4,000 (Group D), MYR 5,000 (Group E), MYR 6,000 (Group F), MYR 7,000 (Group G), MYR 8,000 (Group H), and MYR 9,000 (Group I).

CDW will only be effective subject to availability of police report and acceptance by the Insurance Company as provided in the policy. However, our customer cannot eliminate the excess completely.

No, insurance and excess protection do not cover damage or loss due to careless actions, negligence, illegal or improper use of the vehicle. Additionally, they do not cover missing items or accessories, damages such as tyre punctures or burst tyres, fuel errors, battery damage caused by forgetting to turn off electrical devices, or loss or damage to vehicle accessories.

You can buy our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) on our website. Navigate to the booking section, specifically under Step 3, where you can view the price of the Collision Damage Waiver. Prices may vary depending on the vehicle class.

Accident Car Replacement (ACR)

It is strongly recommended to purchase Accident Car Replacement (ACR) protection. You may purchase an Accident Car Replacement (third-party) waiver to cover all necessary replacement costs if your vehicle is involved in an accident caused by a third party.

Under this Accident Car Replacement Waiver, the coverage includes the full cost of replacing the car.

For replacement, MKAZ may offer any type of car depending on the booking schedule whichever is still available. The replacement car may not be the same colour, brand, model or engine capacity (CC).

Accident Car Replacement is not available for purchase during peak seasons or festive periods (Public Holidays in Malaysia). We reserve the right to cancel the Accident Car Replacement even if the hirer has purchased this waiver at the time of reservation.

Upon receiving the replacement car, any Collision Damage Waiver or other excess protection purchased for the original accident car will not apply to the replacement vehicle. Hirers will need to purchase new excess protection for the replacement car.

Windscreen Protection Waiver (WPW)

If you intentionally or unintentionally damage the windscreen, you are responsible for covering all costs associated with repairing or replacing it to its original condition.

If it is a small star, chip, or crack, you may still be responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing the windscreen, depending on the terms of your rental agreement with MKAZ.

It is understood that MKAZ will inform customers of any existing damages on their vehicles before handing them over. In the event that a windscreen develops a larger crack, MKAZ reserves the right to charge the hirer the full cost of replacing the windscreen.

It’s important to check if your rented vehicle includes coverage for excess windshield replacement. You have the option to purchase windscreen protection on our website to cover any excess costs. Please refer to our terms and conditions for further details.

Having windscreen protection ensures you’re prepared for any damage, reducing stress about potential repairs.Windscreen protection covers a range of damages, including chips, cracks, and full replacements. 

The customer is permitted to submit only one claim under the Windscreen Protection policy. Any additional claims for the same incident or any subsequent incidents will not be accepted.

Flood and Storm Coverage

In most states, if the car incurs any loss or damage from natural causes, regardless of fault, you are responsible for covering the entire value of the car at the time of rental, minus its salvage value. Additional expenses may include towing, storage, and impound fees, as well as a diminution in the car’s value assessed by MKAZ, an administrative fee, and a reasonable charge for the loss of use of the vehicle.

Standard rental car insurance typically excludes coverage for losses or damages caused by acts of nature, such as floods and storms. Therefore, the renter is always responsible for covering all costs associated with damages resulting from natural disasters.

The Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) covers your responsibility for vehicle loss or damage and third-party damage up to the specified limits outlined in the rental agreement. In cases where the damage is not covered by the CDW, such as damage caused by floods or storms, you may be entirely liable for any resulting costs or losses.

Natural disasters are unpredictable. Indeed, renters have the option to purchase special peril coverage as an additional protection for their rental car.

Special Perils coverage protects your rental car from loss or damage caused by floods and storms.

If the car incurs any loss or damage due to natural perils, regardless of fault, you are responsible for covering the entire value of the car at the time of rental as assessed by MKAZ.

The hirer is always liable for an excess amount not exceeding MYR4,500 (Group A), MYR6,000 (Group B), MYR7,500 (Group C), MYR8,500 (Group D), MYR9,000 (Group E), and MYR10,500 (Group F).

The special perils add-on covers losses or damages specifically caused by floods and storms. However, there are conditions under which the special perils add-on may not apply:

1) Damage occurring during heavy rain that does not constitute a flood.
2) The vehicle does not pass through water reaching the engine bay or 50% of the tire height.
3) Damage caused by driving through a puddle.
4) Any other damage that solely results from a flood or storm.

• Immediately exit your vehicle and move to higher ground.
• If you must drive through water, exercise extreme caution. If no alternative route is available and driving through standing water is unavoidable, estimate the water depth (observe other vehicles if possible) before proceeding.
• Drive your car to a safer location or higher ground.
• Ensure the safety of all individuals involved in the incident and assess the damage to all vehicles.
• Turn off the car’s engine and do not attempt to restart it, as this could pose additional risks.
• Water and electricity are a dangerous combination. Disconnecting the car battery cuts off electrical power to critical components, reducing the risk of electrical short circuits or fires.
• In the event of a flood, contact our emergency call center immediately at 018-2364401. MKAZ has designated insurance assistance available. If approached by a roadside assistance or towing agent, refrain from making any agreements without consulting us.

Failure to follow these steps may void your agreement and leave you liable for any accident-related costs.

Travel Essential

Child Car Seat

There is an option for a child seat under the add ons section. Additional charges will be included in your booking invoice. You can refer to booking, under Step 4, there is an option to choose a car seat.

Car seats are subject to availability. We practice first come first serve customers in order for them to book for child seat.

Yes ,you may bring your own child seat with a condition car seat will not cause the seat to be damaged by any condition while installing it to MKAZ’s car rental.

Zone Boundaries

Long travel distances – The farther a vehicle travels from its original location, the higher the risk of wear and tear on the engine, tires, and other components. It also becomes more challenging for the company to provide assistance in case of breakdowns or emergencies.

Road conditions – Some areas have uneven, hilly, or pothole-ridden roads, which can accelerate vehicle damage. Certain zones may be restricted to protect the vehicle from severe damage.

High maintenance costs – Long distances and challenging road conditions can increase maintenance costs, such as more frequent oil changes, tire alignments, and critical component repairs.

Vehicle safety – Certain areas may have higher safety risks, such as high theft rates or difficult traffic conditions. To mitigate the risk of vehicle loss or damage, companies may set specific boundaries.

Insurance and liability – Some insurance policies only cover specific areas, meaning traveling beyond the allowed zones could make the customer fully liable for any damages or accidents that occur outside the designated area.

Therefore, it is important for customers to understand and comply with the designated travel zone limits to avoid additional charges or violations of the rental agreement.

Smart Tag and Touch N Go Card

Rates do not include smart tag and touch n go. Generally, all tolls and highways in Malaysia practice cashless payment. No cash is accepted. To smoothen the journey, the employer has the option to rent a smart tag with MKAZ. You can go to ‘Booking’, under step 4-equipment and services, there is option to purchase rental of Smart Tag.

Yes, the Smart Tag device comes with an enhance Touch N Go NFC card. 

There is a penalty of RM200 for any missing, lost, or stolen Smart Tag device. Hirer is responsible for taking good care of our smart tag device for the convenience of our entire customer base.

If the Touch N Go card is misplaced, lost, or stolen,the customer needs to pay RM30 for the card plus the opening balance stored in the card.

Yes. All our smart tag devices are sensitive infrared devices. Hirers must ensure to keep smart tag in a safe place, not to break the smart tag and return it as the original condition given to you.

​No, the card does not contain any credit value. You will need to top-up to reload your card with value at any convenience store or an authorised merchant. However, should you want us to reload the amount in advance for you, you can drop us a request via chat or Whatsapp. 

You can speak to our Sales Representative to request the credit value on the card at least one day before your pickup date. Please proceed to the live chat on the corner of the website.

Unfortunately, no refund will be granted to the hirer should the card have an excess balance upon return. Please reload the card only with the required amount to avoid any excess balance on the card.

Unfortunately, no. The card must be returned with the same balance as it was provided to the hirer. If the hirer has spent the remaining sum, the hirer must pay for the excess.

Travel Insurance

Trip Care 360 Takaful provides benefits to the covered person on the occurrence of specific events that may arise during domestic or international travel, for business or leisure. It includes death or permanent disability due to accident, medical expenses arising due to accident or illness, various travel inconveniences, losses or damages to baggage and/or personal effects, personal liability, and emergency services. The covered person may also choose to participate in an additional benefit, which extends the coverage when the covered person participates in the adventurous activities.

MKAZ are always encouraging our hirer to purchase travel insurance when travelling. Travel insurance may protect you from personal body injury and death if an accident happens.

Payment, Refund and Cancellation

Payment

Starting January 1st, 2020, MKAZ will exclusively accept cashless payments. Only credit or debit card payments will be accepted.

We only offer credit and debit card payment options at checkout. Therefore, a credit or debit card is mandatory to proceed with your reservation.

On the payment page, you have the option to pay either 25% of your total reservation amount or pay in full. If you select to pay 25% of the total reservation amount, the remaining balance will be charged to your card before car pickup. It’s important to ensure sufficient funds are available for us to process the charge. Please note, we cannot release the rental vehicle to you if there is an outstanding balance with MKAZ.

You can contact our reservation team through Live Chat to inquire about this issue, or alternatively, you should notify your bank about the error.

In specific cases, we may ask for a cash security deposit.

Cancellation

During normal operation season:

(a) 25% payment terms :

100% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel or make any changes anytime before your scheduled rental date or if you do not show up on the arrival date.

(b) Full or 100% payment of your total reservation payment.

(i)You will receive a full refund of your reservation payment if you cancel or make any changes 8 days prior to your scheduled rental date. 

(ii)40% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel or make any changes from 2 to 7 days prior to your scheduled rental date.

(iii)100% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel or make any changes 1 day (24 hours) before your scheduled rental date or if you do not show up on the arrival date.

For payments made using promotional codes or voucher codes:

Please note that promotional codes or voucher codes are offered to selected customers only. If you have made a partial (25%) or full payment using a promotional code or voucher code, 100% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel.

During peak season and festive periods (applicable to all Public Holidays in Malaysia):

(a) 25% payment terms:

100% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel or make any changes anytime before your scheduled rental date or if you do not show up on the arrival date.

(b) Full or 100% payment of your total reservation payment.

100% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel or make any changes 7 days before your scheduled rental date.

For overseas/remittance payments:

A management charge of 8% of the total reservation amount will be applied as a transaction fee. This charge may vary depending on the country and current foreign exchange rates. MKAZ will inform hirers about applicable charges based on the current exchange rates.

Refund Policy:

Refunds will be processed to the card registered in our system.

Cancellation fee for 100% refund payment:

A one-time cancellation fee will be charged at a rate of 5% of the full amount paid for the reservation for any cancellation of booking.

MKAZ reserves the right to decline any rental at their discretion, or if the Hirer does not meet the standard terms and conditions of rental before, upon, or during the rental period.

Failure to meet these requirements before, upon, or during pickup may result in the application of full rental charges to your account. Please review our terms and conditions applicable to the rental.

No refunds if valid documentation is not provided at the time of booking.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you fully comprehend our documentation policy.

Refund

Please be aware that we cannot provide a refund if you return the vehicle before the scheduled rental period ends.

Please contact us via our live chat to initiate your refund request. Our refund team will assist you promptly.

Please submit your refund request in writing to sales@mkazcarrental.com. We will typically respond within 3-5 working days.

(iii)100% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel or make any changes 1 day (24 hours) before your scheduled rental date or if you do not show up on the arrival date.

For payments made using promotional codes or voucher codes:

Please note that promotional codes or voucher codes are offered to selected customers only. If you have made a partial (25%) or full payment using a promotional code or voucher code, 100% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel.

During peak season and festive periods (applicable to all Public Holidays in Malaysia):

(a) 25% payment terms:

100% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel or make any changes anytime before your scheduled rental date or if you do not show up on the arrival date.

(b) Full or 100% payment of your total reservation payment.

100% of your total reservation payment will be charged if you cancel or make any changes 7 days before your scheduled rental date.

Credit Balance

The amount spent on your rental booking will be reimbursed to you as a Credit Account, which you can use for future bookings with MKAZ. This credit will be available in your Member account in the same currency that was used for your car rental booking.

The Credit Account will only be reimbursed to the MKAZ hirer who made the booking and payment.

Once issued, the Credit Account is non-transferrable, meaning you will not be able to transfer any amount from your Credit Account to anyone else.

Unfortunately, no. We only offer refunds in the form of a credit balance account which stored on our system. 

You will receive an email notification once the Credit Account is issued.

A Credit Account provides you the flexibility to make future bookings at any time, including during peak travel seasons or MKAZ Promotional Sales, as long as the booking schedule is available on our website. The credit remains valid for up to 360 days (one year) from the date it is issued into your MKAZ member account.

If your Credit Account balance is insufficient, you can use other available payment options to cover the remaining balance.

Guideline to Accident, Breakdown & Other Damages

  • Remain calm and avoid panicking. If you notice a strong, rhythmic thumping or flapping sound, and the steering feels vague or heavy, safely pull over to the side of the road as soon as possible.
  • Activate your hazard lights to make your vehicle more visible to other drivers.
  • Replace the flat tire using the spare tire stored in the car’s trunk.
  • Drive cautiously and slowly to the nearest local tire repair center. Once there, please contact us for further assistance.
  • Please note that driving on the spare tire for an extended period may result in damage beyond repair.
  • Contact us for assistance if needed.

MKAZ has designated battery agents who will arrange a replacement for you if the car battery dies. Please be aware that it may take some time for the agents to arrive and complete the replacement. Rest assured, we will do our utmost to assist you throughout the battery replacement process.

For small chips, cracks, or stars in the windshield, you can continue your journey as usual. Please monitor the damage, and if it worsens, notify us immediately.

For major chips, cracks, stars, or if the windshield is broken on MKAZ’s rental car, please contact us promptly for assistance.

Every car is susceptible to breakdowns under certain conditions. Breakdowns can occur in both older and newer vehicles.

If you hear or feel a strong, rhythmic thumping or flapping sound, notice a rise in temperature, or feel unsafe to continue driving, pull over to the side of the road safely as soon as possible.

Please inform us of your current situation, and we will assist you promptly.

Minor Accident:
Ensure all participants in the accident are safe and assess the damage to all vehicles involved.
If your car is drivable, you may continue your journey as normal.
If you have collided with another vehicle or have been involved in a collision, please notify us immediately.
You will be required to send a photo or video of the accident.

Major Accident:
Ensure all participants in the accident are safe and assess the damage to all vehicles involved.
Ensure that your car’s engine is turned off to prevent any additional hazards.
In the event of a major accident, please call our emergency call center immediately at 018-2364401. MKAZ has designated insurance assistance available. If approached by a roadside assistance or towing agent, please refrain from making any agreements.
Failure to follow these steps may result in voiding your agreement and you may be responsible for any accident-related costs.
